House RRB
1995 - 1998
Low-energy houses for the Berchtold families
A lot of architecture, little energy consumption.
The will to live together, the desire for spatial expanse and brightness determined the project:
A building that spans generations.
Two wooden structures facing away from each other adjoin an L-shaped backbone. The brother's more compact house is concentrated as a “core house” around the centre of the staircase, and is oriented towards the outside. The parents' house behind it functions as an open volume of space that is at rest in itself.
Family life is relaxed aided by the potential distance.
